On January 23rd. The MN Deaf/Hard of Hearing team was about to gear up for the US Pond Hockey Tournament. Then the COLD hit Minnesota and the Friday pool games were cancelled. After all teams that were registered took a vote, the organizers moved to preserve the playoff bracket games on Sunday. Instead of 4 games of 30 minutes, the Bender Division and the MN Deaf/Hard of Hearing team played 3 c
ondensed games on Saturday January 24. Each game was 20 minutes. It was fast rapid play hockey with short breaks between games. Over the three games the Deaf/Hard of Hearing team played hard and spirited totaling 4 goals. The team went out on the ice with smiles and left with smiles and HUGE memories and team camaraderie. One thing we will say is the ice surface was the hardest challenge! Pucks bounced all over, skated over crevasses, potholes and ridges alike. It was a challenge that was taken head on! We even had fans cheering for us! Afterwards the team got some yummy WARM food at Carbone's near Lake Nokomis. The next day in the group chat...BRUISES, ANKLES and game bumps were shared! And in tune with TALL MN tales, we emerged victorious and broke teeth, shattered hockey sticks and lit the Nokomis ice on fire with our speed.
